Understanding How Erections Work; Erectile Problems and Dysfunction

How Does an Erection Occur?

The penis has two chambers referred to as the corpora cavernosa, which run the length of the penis shaft. A spongy tissue fills the chambers. Urine and ejaculate are channeled through the urethra. which runs along the underside of the corpora cavernosa. The urethra, which is the channel for urine and ejaculate, runs along the underside of the corpora cavernosa and is surrounded by the same spongy tissue.

The extra blood produces pressure within the expandable chamber of the corpora cavernosa, causing the penis to expand. The tunica albuginea when functioning properly, helps trap the blood inside the corpora cavernosa, this is what allows you to sustain an erection. When the penis muscles contract to stop the inflow of blood and open outflow channels, the blood leaves the penis and it goes once again flaccid.

So, How Does Erectile Dysfunction Occur?

Erection problems essentially constitute not being able to get the penis up. When a man gets excited physically or mentally the physical reaction described above is the expected result…obvious right?
